Tell us why you applied to Arrival Education?

Having gained experience of working in strategy, operations and programme management roles as a Management Consultant, I then wanted to harness my skills and experience with an organisation whose mission I truly believed in.

I have been through a career-change programme over the last year, called On Purpose, and concluded the programme knowing that I wanted to look for my next role with an organisation focussed on social mobility and diversity. Having been fortunate in my own education and career, I wanted to find somewhere where I could help others achieve their aspirations. The opportunity came up to work with Arrival Education, and it seemed too good to let pass!

Why do you think the work we do at Arrival Education is so important?

I am a big believer in providing equal access to skills, opportunities and role models for all young people, especially ‘real-world’ skills and experiences, which I feel sets Arrival Education apart from other organisations. I enjoy seeing the tangible outcomes from my work, and the way that Arrival Education’s work ties directly to life success is very important to me.

Also, having worked in the corporate world, I’m aware the value that a more diverse workforce can bring to organisations, so I am keen to support them in achieving this.

What are you up to when you’re not working?

All sorts! I enjoy doing improvised comedy and have recently started taking the plunge of doing it on stage, which is bags of fun! I also love playing sports, fitting in football, tennis and running whenever I can find time.

I enjoy travelling to new places, and love getting off the beaten track. My latest trips have taken me to the Scottish Highlands and to the Chinese province of Sichuan. Lastly, I enjoy volunteering, and currently have mentoring and coaching roles within two youth-focused charities.

If you could have a 1:2:1 with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

Nelson Mandela. I read his autobiography around 10 years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. He was a fantastic civil rights activist, orator and all-round inspirational leader and I’d love to meet him. I was fortunate enough to spend time working in South Africa in a previous role, and I saw first-hand the legacy he has had in that country.
