Tell us why you applied to Arrival Education?
Social mobility and diversity is something that I became increasingly interested in whilst at school and university. I have first-hand experience of the kinds of support networks and organisations that are around to help young people from non-traditional backgrounds broaden their prospects, but when I heard about Arrival Education their approach really stood out to me.
I saw the role as an opportunity to combine my professional interest in marketing with my personal belief in the importance of social mobility and inclusion – it ticked all the boxes for me!
Why do you think the work we do at Arrival Education is so important?
The programmes offered by Arrival Education combine real business solutions with ethical business practice. It’s great because it’s a two-way exchange between the corporate partners and the young people that Arrival Education work with. The corporates gain a totally new outlook and can develop their professional skillset and the young people gain exposure to an environment and mindset they might never have come across before.
Arrival’ Education’s focus on working with big business to promote the power of difference is fresh, necessary and competitive; it’s a win-win for everyone involved and it’s a modern and innovative approach to the “diversity problem”.
What are you up to when you’re not working?
I am often up in the Lake District visiting my family and when I am there I like to make the most of the scenery and climb some hills! Aside from that, I like staying active (mainly with aerobics classes), cooking and spending too much money on ASOS!
I am also a keen traveller and will take any opportunity (near or far) to explore somewhere new! Having just moved down to London from Edinburgh, I am trying to make the most of exploring London at the moment.
If you could have a 1:2:1 with anyone living or dead, who would it be?
Serena Williams – I think she is an amazing role model for women and an incredible athlete. I also think it’s brilliant and important how she has recently brought the discussion about work-life balance and mental health for new mums into the public discourse.
